Hello, I am posting for the first time here. So please let me know if I am doing it in wrong forum. I have and processor with 4gb corsair 1333 c9 ram stick. Now I want to upgrade it to 8gb by adding another stick. But in market I can find only corsair 1600 c11, which use the same voltage rating as the old stick (that much I gather from internet). Now I understand that if I mix them they may work with 1333 clock speed, if work at all, which is fine by me. I am looking for suggestions whether I should try it or any alternative. Thanks in advance.

Mixing 2 sets/sticks of RAM from 2 different vendors, or even the same vendor is always a crapshoot. It's not something that we'd recommend for technical reasons, it may or may not work, there's simply no guarantee that it'll work. Best is to get the amount of memory you're really going for, like what Terry suggested above.

+1 And make sure whatever DRAM you get can be carried by your CPU. The CPUs MC (memory controller) is the main factor in what data rates you can run, i.e. the AMD 965 was the first of their CPUs that could be reliably counted on to run 1600 sticks
