Hi, so recently my ASUS p6t died, aswell as the need for my i7 920. I couldn't find a 1366 socket mobo that wouldnt cost me a fortune ($250~, 2nd hand mind you), in Australia anyway. After confirming with another user from this forum, I decided buying a few new parts would be the better option, and heres what I've come up with.

PcPartPicker link

CPU- i3 4170 @ 3.7Ghz
Mobo- MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150
Ram- Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866

For $300> gambling on a 2nd hand old motherboard in my opinion..lol.

I already have a:

- GTX 750ti
- A case
- 1200W PSU
- 64GB SSD
- 1TB HDD
- Keyboard,Mouse,Monitor
- 3x 2GB Kingston hyperX DDR3 (Probably needs to be replaced because of mobo change)

50% of my gaming will be on low-demanding games such as League of Legends, the other 50 will be on higher demanding games, hopefully being able to at least play Fallout 4 or other future games of that "tier".

So with all that I'd like an opinion or two on my choices of components, and to make sure I'm not needlessly throwing money away..

All replies will be appreciated!

Cheers.

Basically Intel is better than AMD regarding gaming but honestly, when we say gaming we don't mean League of Legends do we? A good CPU cooler is not expensive to be honest and is well worth it. You can overclock that FX 6300 to 4.0+Mhz and is probably better than the I3. Regarding the motherboard.....Gigabyte 970-UD3P this is the one you want if your going AMD way.

Thanks, could you recommend a mobo for me? The 6300 fx is only $10 cheaper than the i3 4170 here in Australia thought which is kind of weird, which would mean i'd have to cheap out on a mobo to afford the cooler. :S
