i am trying to use a ssd drive for my operating system (windows 7)
i unhooked my hhd drive connected my ssd drive and rebooted my computer
in bios it only showed my dvd drive
i turned off my computer and checked all my connections
when i restart my computer i get a message reboot and select proper boot drive
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key
any suggestions

Solution
well the clean drive will not have any operating system on it. that is the point at which you would use your windows install disk to install windows to the ssd. if you want to just copy your hdd over, you would boot in to the hdd with both the hdd and ssd connected and run a cloning program like macrium reflect. then you would reboot to the bios, and change the boot drive to the ssd by moving it to the top of the boot order list.

So you didn't perform a clone yet right? Insert an install disk and see if it sees the drive when you start trying to install Windows 7.
Though this is a good time to upgrade to Windows 10 (Windows 10 has features that benefit SSD greatly)
