Hi,
I have a work laptop (crappy old Lenovo with 2gb RAM, core 2 duo and Windows 7) who's ONLY function is to give me access to a shared network drive over VPN.
This drive shows up as a mapped drive in windows.
It is connected to the same home wifi network as my own personal machine, which is far higher spec, which is what I use to do all my work on.
Is it possible to share this mapped drive over my home network and map it direct on my personal laptop?

You likely will not be able to make it work especially if you have no control over the vpn. By default VPN is designed to prevent what you are trying to do. Pretty much the company network security is now based on your ability to configure things...what happens if you would just connect it to a completely open wireless network.

Even if you spend the time to try to get around VPN restrictions the server that is providing the shared driver likely also has some security. If it is using something like domain authentication (which many larger companies do) it will prevent your home pc from getting access to resources because it is not a member of the domain.
