Hello there,
I am looking to purchase some ram for my new build. My motherboard is the Asus a Rampage V Extreme and I am unsure if it is alright to use two 4x4GB ram kits. I would like to use the Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4. I ask this as I would like to have all slots filled for looks and I would also like to have 32GB of ram in total.

Solution
Memory manufacturers don't guarantee compatibility when combining multiple kits.

By mixing memory kits together, there may be compatibility issues such as unable to boot or unable to operate at rated specifications.

There are 8 x 288-Pin DDR4 kits available so combining kits is not necessary.

If you only need 32GB, then you don't need 8 DIMMs.

There is nothing wrong with it. But keep in mind that sometimes two of the exact same kits will not play nice together. There is no guarantee these will either, but they likely will be fine. The only way to ensure success is to buy a 8x4gb kit. Also, if you are overclocking, more sticks can sometimes result in achieving a lower stable overclock.
