Right now a bad time to buy a new GPU?

With nvidias new cards next year. Do you think right now is a bad time to buy a new card? Thinking of going from a 960 to a 970. But dont know if waiting is a better option

There is always an amazing new upgrade right around the corner.

If you're going to be miserable gaming with your GTX 960 for the next year go ahead and pick up a GTX 970, it is a significant upgrade. If you're pretty happy with your current GPU then it certainly couldn't hurt to wait until the next release.

It's always a balance between the two, but don't let the 'just around the corner' always stop you from enjoying your time now.

The 'right time' is when you need it. If you need it now, there are some good Black Friday and other deals at most stores.

You should always wait. Why? Because there is always something new, just over the horizon.
So you're always waiting for that 'next best thing', and you save money by never actually buying anything.

Last week, I bought a 960GB SSD for $220. "1 day special price!" And for that drive, it was a GREAT price.
3 days later, it was $200.
6 months from now, that same drive will probably be $175.

When do you need whatever it is you are going to buy?

I dont "need a 970" but i wouldnt mind owning one. So its whatever. If i can find a good sale on it id pick it up. Might just put the money towards a new case
