Hey there wonderful people of Tom's Harware I have a question revolving around this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Windows-7-Professional-PRO-64-Bit-Full-Version-Upgrade-SP1-NEW-/371377370130?hash=item5677d0f412:g:F8wAAOSw7ThUkKtX

I'm going to be building a computer for the first time. Is there anything special about the OS I linked because in picture 2 it says it is intended for distribution with a refurbush PC, would I just be able to install it? I want Windows 10 but Windows 7 is a lot cheaper so I could just get Windows 7 and then upgrade to Windows 10 right? I don't intend on installing a disk drive in my new computer but I have a sata laptop one laying around. Could I just hook it up and duct tape it to the top of my case when I'm installing Windows and then take it off when I'm done? Also when I upgrade to Windows 10 will I be able to manually do it so I can disable all the secuirty crap or will I have to deal with that after installing Windows 10? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks!

If you purchase a valid OS (Win 7 or 8.1) from a reputable seller, with a valid license key....yes, you can Upgrade that to Windows 10.

You can do the Upgrade either from a USB, DVD, or directly from the MediaCreation tool, downloadable from Microsoft.

Licensed software from eBay is never a good idea.
Win 7 Pro for $70 is REALLY not a good idea.

The OS is just as much a part of the PC as is the RAM/CPU/GPU/etc. You're not going to cheap out on those, are you? Similarly, don't cheap out on the OS.
Buy reputable, as noted above.

What would the risk be?

1. That it won't activate on your hardware.
2. That it becomes unactivated after a period of time.

Alright. Each license has 3 OS installations right? If this is true do you know where I could buy one with 1 use left from a repuative seller?

No, each license does NOT have "3 OS installations".
1 license, 1 PC.

There used to be a Family Pack, Reduced price for 3 PC's. That is long gone.
