Hello,

I got some new memory today from my friend at work and after installing and checking on windows I only have 8GB showing. My setup is as follows:

RAM: 2 x F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR - 1866mhz ddr3 4GBx2 sticks
Motherboard: Gigabyte ga z77m-d3h
Processor: Intel core i5 3470
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

I have tested each stick individually and on bios for both it only reads 4GB out of the total 8GB. I also tested to make sure that both ram sticks were in the matching slots, both 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 which didn't change anything. Furthermore the maximum memory box is unticked in msconfig, so that should allow it to read the maximum amount of memory available. I increased the DRAM voltage as per another thread to 1.56 but that did not changed what bios was showing.

What do I need to check specific to my setup and other hardware to get all 16GB of the ram to read at 1866mhz? Is there a setting I need to unlock for it to read on my motherboard or do I have to increase the voltage and other settings?

Appreciate any assistance!

Ahh thanks for clarifying guys. He told me it was 16gb so I just assumed he was correct. I've never had decent quality ram before and didn't know they came in kits so it makes more sense when reading the sticker on the memory now.

Thanks again, this thread can be closed.
