Windows 7 freezes up and becomes unresponsive when I run it normally but it's fine in safe mode.

So as the title explains,I'm in a bit of a issue. Here's how it started, I came home from work after leaving my PC on like I always do and tried to open something up and then I realised it was taking a rediculous amount of time so I opened up task manager and found that 80% of my RAM was being use up just by having my desktop running so I reset my computer and it would run fine until after 5mins where it would become unresponsive and I'd be unable to click anything although the RAM was only at 10% usage it was still crashing but when I run it in safe mode there's no crashes or anything.
So here's what I've already tried:
-Resetting winsoc catalog
-Cleanboot
-Ccleaner
-reinstalled GPU drivers
-reset BIOS settings

I'm currently about to format it but I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas beforehand.

Specs:
GTX 770
Western Digital 1TB HDD
8GB RAM
I5 processor

Been using this PC fine for 3years, this is the first problem I've had.
