I've ordered myself an EVGA Supernova G2 550W PSU based on its Gold rating , full modular wiring, extremely positive reviews and protection it has. User glamdringfh suggested an XFX series to me on my last question and i was going to get that , but only decided not to when i realised i would never make use of the full wattage and i dont plan on running two GPU's or doing much in the way of overclocking.

Which brings me to my next road bump , Graphics card...and frankly everything about modern cards just goes over my head.

So based on my setup -

G7 Extreme 550 (tommorow can not come fast enough to get this thing OUT!)
H61M-DS2 DVI (Intel Core i5-3340 CPU @ 3.10GHz)
8GB DDR3
ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 (Sounds as tired as a rusty car-vent)
500GB SSD
Arctic Silver Cooler Rev.2

Which of the 700 or 900 Nvidia series would sit comfortably? I was gonna go for the GTX 750 Ti, but....the different brands throw me off :S which benefits one has over the other with Gigabyte , EVGA , MSi , ASUS etc

I'm looking into reviews and card ratings while i've posted this.

Solution
Gtx 960 or r9 380 will pretty much run max at 900p, as will a gtx660ti - 770 or r9 280/x, and those older gen cards can be found pretty cheap on eBay, but you will get a used gpu, so be careful there.

Whichever you ordered, you'll get a good PSU. :)

What games are you going to be playing, at what resolution, and at what settings? For some uses, a GTX 750 Ti will be fine, for others, a GTX 970 will be a better choice ...

Budget is a factor , and i wouldnt mind something that could at least run GTAV or fallout 4 at a reasonable framerate , i'm quite happy to reduce and tweak settings where needed. I've survived on a GT640 so long i've gotten used to that.

Not many New Gen titles to be honest , but GTAV and Fallout 4 if possible , i've run on a GT640 so long that i'm oblivious to things like screen tear and refresh rate juddering.

I run quite an old slimline monitor with a 1440 x 900 native resolution and 60Hz refresh rate , and i will be stuck with that for some time , burned a hole in my wallet already :ouch:
