There's no guarantee mixed RAM will play nicely together. RAM sold in the same packs have been tested in the factory to perform reliably together, even the EXACT same RAM modules from different packs might not work together.

There's about a 50/50 chance those modules working in your system. If you have the extra cash and won't be terribly upset if you have to return the new modules then go ahead. You might be on the lucky side of the coin and get a great deal on 8GB of RAM. ;)

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. If you don't mind I will ask one more. How will I know if the new ram doesnt work once it's installed? If the computer boots up and runs normally then I can assume all is well? / or is there some test I should run? Thanks!
