Ok just got this combo and want to overclock it. Im not asking for anything crazy i just want 4ghz at this point. So far ive raised the multiplier to 40 and ive went as high as 1.25 voltage and the damn thing wont even boot! Is there some other part im missing nobody ever explains in guides or did i just get the worlds worst ocing cpu also anyone else have this board that can tell me the exact wording of the things im spposed to change what im doing is the core ratio limit, thats the multiplier correct? Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated you dont even know i was so excited to oc this cause its widely accepted this chip is a great ocer and now it seems all my hopes and dreams have been smashed to the ground and ground to dust. :'(

On my G3258 I got 4.0ghz on 1.13v on stock cooler and its been running great for weeks (less than 60 degrees in BF4). I used the cheapest MSI h81m-p33 mobo and it was really easy to oc. The Z97a should be a lot better :\

Im pretty sure i am just a complete idiot lol i did update my bios didnt do anything but i just realized i was change system io voltage offset not the cpu core my god i feel so stupid but still to get to boot at 4ghz i have to raise the voltage offset by .150 well at least higher than .1 havent tried lower yet just making sure its stable here seems kind of crazy but so far after 10 minutes. Of prime 95 its runnin around 60° thats not bad is it

Thats pretty much what every thing ive read says 4.0 should run at or close to stock volts i have a fractal r5 case with a hyper 212 evo pretty sure i gotta lemon i guess its not too big of a deal was plannin on gettin an i5 when i can afford it anyway but i was expecting so much more tried 4.2ghz at 1.25v and wont even boot looks like my max on this piece of shit is 4ghz cause any higher voltage is runnin 65 to 70° and id rather keep it lower
