Are XTU settings permanent?

Maybe a silly question, but I'm wondering if after configuring and applying different profiles, that all the settings would be reverted if I were to uninstall XTU? Or does this manipulate settings within the BIOS/hardware itself? Thanks!

It's a laptop, so I'm wondering if I screw something up, is it as simple as removing XTU. I'm not sure at what level these settings are made. Thanks.
