775 Compatibility for an old motherboard (65nm Core2Duo replacing a P4 524)

So I'm experimenting with an old computer I dug up - it's an E-Machine T5048 with a 775 slot motherboard. It came with an intel Pentium 4 524 processor @ 3.06ghz and a 533 Mhz FSB. This old P4 launched in 2006.

I'm trying to stick an old E6300 Core 2 Duo into it. it runs at 1.86Ghz with 1066 Mhz FSB. The cpu also launched in 2006.

However, my computer is now not posting - just black screen for the monitor. No beeps, no flashes. The lights on the mobo turns on, but there is no signal to the monitor.

My question is: Can this EMachine T5048's motherboard take (marginally) newer processors such as a 65nm Core2Duo?

Well I can't find any detailed specs on that computer, so you may need to use something like CPU-Z to get some more details on the motherboard. Not all LGA 775 boards support Core 2 Duos, the earlier 775 chipsets like the 915G only support Pentium 4s and related Celeron CPUs, that computer may have one of those, especially considering it was a budget system when it came out.
