How To Use an LG Ultrawide Monitor For Gaming?

I recently purchased an LG 25" Ultrawide gaming monitor. I primarily play the game Rust. I have seen some Youtube videos where people playing it can see more of the screen. I tried it but don't seem to get anything wider than with a normal monitor. I get black bars on the sides w my ultrawide. Any help would be great!
My system is windows 10 with AMD fx9590 and Radeon R9 390x.

Have you modified your in game resolution to match the native resolution of your display? If this is not a valid option perhaps you can modify the settings.ini file (or whatever Rust calls it) and specify the native resolution there.

Using the correct resolution will remove the black bars and allow you to use your full screen in your games.
