I have a Gigabyte MB and I wanted to enable the front audio jacks on my PC, but I couldn't get into the BIOS. Not only that, I can't use any of the commands available, memory check, flash screen, whatever... As if my keyboard isn't plugged in when the PC boots up. I tried disconnecting the hard drive in order to force it in some way, didn't work. I downloaded a BIOS firmware update, put it on a flash drive, but I cannot tweak the boot order in order to start it... I think that problem could've appeared after a bizarre crash I had a month ago*. I didn't bother finding a solution earlier, since I don't really use my front jacks, but now my system information shows that only 3.99GB out of 8 are usable, which is a worse issue, so I really need to get into the BIOS somehow... If you have any idea what I can do, please share it!!! Thanks in advance fellas!

*Long story short, my internet provider told me I was causing flooding in the network so they had to disconnect me. After a few hours of trying to fix the issue, my PC was completely unable to connect to the internet (no lights were flashing on the back) for some reason, and I reinstalled the OS, and it was fixed. But then for some reason my HDDs just disappeared. It took me a day to just discover them in the system, and they were completely wiped. It took me two more days to restore some of my data (using recovery software). I kinda feel that is somehow connected to my BIOS issue...

What model motherboard do you have?

On a guess, you probably have quickboot enabled. That bypasses any attempt to get in to the BIOS through key commands. It boots to the OS lightening fast, but thats the trade off. In order to get in to it, you have to reset your bios. Look up your specific motherboard for instructions, but generaly its a matter of unplugging the system. Pulling the CMOS battery and then moving a specific jumper. Your manual should tell you which ones specificly to do. Once you reset it to factory default, you'll have to go in and change the appropriate settings.
