Hello all,

I received my 'used' i7 4770k today off ebay and i've been doing some basic overclocking. It will boot into windows @ 4.5Ghz @ 1.3v but crashes during P95. I've had it stable @ 4.4Ghz @ 1.28v so far with everything else on auto and cpu ring ratio at 35 (Stoc)

Whilst i am bringing the voltage down, i'm keeping an eye on the VCCIN voltage which is on auto in the bios and runs at 1.808v any tips for dialling this in?

Cheers

Based on adjusting the voltage and keeping the uncore/ring bus at 35x and everything else on auto the best i can get is 4.4Ghz @ 1.28v (78 degrees max) When i try for 4.5ghz it doesnt pass p95 even at 1.35v. There's not much point in pushing it further just on the voltage alone.

What else can i tweak to achieve 4.5ghz? maybe its something to do with uncore ? vccin ? offsets? - any help appreciated.

the general rule is to keep the input voltage around .6 higher than vcore so you want actual voltage to be 1.88 or 1.9 when using 1.28 as you stated.

I also find that if you have fast ram, say over 1866, cache voltage of 1.200 maybe a bit higher can sometimes be needed, as well as a small bump to system agent voltage.

further, I would try to keep digital IO and Analog IO slightly above 1.000 at load.
