I have a Dell XPS M1730 with the original hard drive running windows xp and it is only used for offline work. I want to install Windows 7 Pro but not destroy Windows XP. I can add another hard drive via the second drive bay but my issue is how to go about installing Windows 7 Pro afterwards on the second HD. Would I have to temporary remove the Windows XP drive to install Windows 7 Pro and if so would there be boot issues after reconnecting the Windows XP drive? Or could I after booting from the installation dvd select the second empty hard drive and install Windows 7 Pro WITHOUT removing the Windows XP drive?
This is a first for me and I need help to accomplish this, step by step if possible.

If you want an onscreen message asking which OS you want to boot then leave the XP drive installed and install 7 on the other one.

If you want to automatically boot one OS and only boot to the other one when you press the boot devices function key (during post) then temporarily remove the XP drive and install 7 to the remaining drive.
