Hi
I am trying to work out if my PC can take a 64 bit OS.
The chip is AMD Athlon ii x4 630 processor . 2899 mhz, 4 cores
I noticed recently that I was using only 3gb of 8gb of RAM which I assume is because I am running 32bit Win 7 OS. I was planning on changing this anyway, hence the question.
I did some digging.
The System Type (as described in System Info) is "X86-based PC".
This implies that I can only install 32 bit OS.
But research done on the chip suggests a "64 bit operating mode".
I assume that to access the full 8gb of memory I need the 64 bit OS so I am hoping you good people are going to tell me I can go ahead.
Thanks in advance
