Every time i adjust any of the sliders in MSI afterburner, none of the effects take place. The only way i got it to overclock slightly was installing the MSI gaming app, which was only like 20 Mhz. On the graph it says the max core frequency is 1342 mhz, and that's as high as it will go. Any recommendations on how to fix

Silly question but after entering the values u wish and pressing enter - because u can and should be entering it manually - do u click the big check mark below to save and apply the new settings? And Vellinious is right if u mean that once u enter the values u don't see an immediate rise in core or men clock that's because the card isn't being used, u have to either play a game or run a synthetic to get it to load only then will the true values be shown on graphs.

When u achieved this 1342mhz core, was that when u were using the gaming app or is this stock?

Also the gaming app sux and may yield unstable results.... But if it's the only way lol

It won't show the boost clocks until you put a load on it.

Open up GPUz to the sensors tab during your benchmark runs, it'll show you what the card ran for max, min, avg. It'll look like this:
