I know little things about my PC as i got it as a gift. Alls i know is that i have an i5-4670k intel quad core cpu at 3.40gh with a graphics card of amd radeon r9 270x. With this is also have 8GB RAM. I have problems getting 60fps on the lowest grpahics settings possible, i cant run my games such as csgo and H1Z1 in 1080p as i just lag like hell. I have had this trouble for a while now and am sick of not knowing whats wrong with my PC, as when i search for the reviews on my parts everybody is saying that they can run everything on max graphics settings 1080p at 60fps and im just sat here thinking why i cant? I have done alot of things that i have previously advised to do but havent worked such as run anti malwarebytes which comes up as clean as well as AVG ant virus which is also clean.i have defragmented my hardrive as well as deleted old files that i dont use so that i have plently of space left. I run little to no programs when im playing games with skype the only other program running (if i have anything else open games are simply unplayable). I have ordered compressed air to clean the insides of my PC properly but previously this hasnt worked when using the end of a hoover. With the games im playing all my friends can run them as smooth as anything and my PC is easily worth more than theirs. My dads friend was the one who built this one and also built a similar one for my brother and he can run games like GTAV and Fallout 4 on max settings, if i tried that my PC would lag like crazy and the games would be unplayable. im not too good with computers and need guidance on what i can do so that my components can work their full potential and for me to enjoy my gaming. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Where do you have your monitor connected? If it's connected to the motherboard with all your other peripherals, then you are using the integrated graphics, which is far weaker than the R9 270x and will cause bad performance in games. To use a dedicated graphics card, your display must be connected to it.

It is plugged into the graphics card

Hard drive space wouldn't effect performance in that way. If you haven't already, try downloading and installing the latest graphics drivers from AMD's website, not having the proper graphics drivers installed is another possible cause for poor performance. If you've already done that, then try downloading HWMonitor and start checking temperatures while gaming, as overheating is another possible reason for poor performance.

edit: https://gyazo.com/8d17a5e86fa47fd63bcea9ae50dd19c5 fans speed now going up to around 2k RPM and my temperatures are peaking to around 65-70, my computer starts to make louder noises when this happens and i start to lag, how can i fix this?

That is strange, you're not running hot enough for thermal throttling to take place, your temperatures are fine for what is likely the stock Intel CPU cooler. You might want to crack open the case and post exactly what kind of power supply you have, eg. brand, model number, wattage. A low quality power supply might be having trouble delivering power to your components within proper spec, and that might be causing slowdowns.

Other than that, use MSI Afterburner to keep track of your GPU usage and clock speeds while playing. If your GPU is not staying at 1050MHz but is constantly bouncing between 300 and 1050, you might have a driver problem that is causing poor performance. I had an issue with a Radeon HD 7870 (which is effectively the same card as what you have) once that did that with certain driver revisions, completely uninstalling the driver and installing an earlier revision fixed that.

Thanks for the help I appreciate it, I will try to get an image of what the insides look like for you. As i said i didnt build this PC so i'm unsure of what components I specifically have.

I have opened my case and i have a pro 550W core edition full wired power supply unit, could this be a problem?

Do you have a brand name anywhere. If it's an XFX 550W core edition, then it's a pretty good quality unit and should be sufficient, in which case your problems are more likely driver related.

Yeah sorry its XFX , could you guide me on how to uninstall and install my drivers i dont want to fuck anything up, you seem to know your stuff.

First you should download the driver revision you want to use from AMD's website. If you haven't updated to the latest version yet, then maybe try that. Then download a program called Display Driver Uninstaller. Use that to completely clear out the old graphics driver, just follow the prompts and when it tells you to reboot into safe mode to uninstall it, do so. Once all the reboots are done, install the new graphics driver. Hopefully that will fix your performance problems.

i thought that my problems had solved after using compressed air on my components and after downloading the driver revision, but im back to lagging hard on games that i should be able to run easily. Im unsure on using all these external programs such as display driver uninstaller when trying to renew my drivers and am afraid that a simple miss click or something can ruin my computer for good. I think i need step by step instructions on how to do this if you are willing to help i would be grateful.

Display Driver Uninstaller won't ruin your computer for good. Simply open it, select the Uninstall Display Driver option, click yes when it prompts you to reboot into Safe Mode, let it reboot, it will automatically remove your graphics driver, then reboot again and install the new graphics driver.

after a day or so i feel like this has done nothing to help my problems. It has updated my drivers and i have new options and a new menu, but im lagging harder than ever in game. When i updated my drivers it automatically put everything on very high quality graphics, which is what i expect when gaming. Its unplayable on very high, i lower them all to the lowest quality they can be and still barely playable.

edit: i sound ungrateful for your help, maybe i should of worded it better.

There is one more thing you can do to try to fix this, though it involves using a third party application. Download MSI Afterburner and install it. Once installed, go into its options and enable "Unofficial Overclocking" then select the "without powerplay" option. This will hopefully force the GPU to stay at its maximum clockspeed by disabling some power saving features that are built into it.

I have done this, will test out to see if its made a differance, thanks again.

having time to assess if i have improvement, i would say that it hasnt improved anything. Today, in a simple game of CSGO every setting on very low/low i was getting 20-30fps on a 4x3 resolution which isnt even full HD. Is there any place i can go to ask for more help or can get my exact specs seen to. The recommended settings on my grpahics card settings is everything on very high, i just want to be able to have this and am in need of help.

At this point, I'd say there's probably something wrong with the graphics card or something else at a hardware level, and you may have to RMA it. The only other possible software fix would be to completely reinstall Windows from scratch. Do you have another computer, or a friend with a desktop that you could use to test the card? That might help isolate the problem.
