Second monitor troubles

My primary monitor is hooked up into my gpu. I want to connect this second monitor but my gpu doesn't have a dvi slot. My mobo does. when i plug it in nothing happens.

Any ideas?

This is your pc with the z97 mobo? Go into bios and enable the igpu multi monitor setting then install the intel graphics drivers in windows. The monitor should then come on.
