Hi all. Let me first thank you all for these forums. You have no idea how much you guys have helped me in the past with all your knowledge.

I recently upgraded from phenom quadcore to a FX 8350. At stock clock speed it will stay at 55C at max load. It idles at around 21C

However if I overclock it at 4.4GHZ the temperature will rise to 63C and my system will crash during the OCCT or prime95 tests. This puzzles me, because my old phenom was overclocked up to 3.8GHZ and I never experienced any overheating issues.

Does the Vishera runs hotter than the phenom overclocked?

Any ideas or suggestions will be highly appreciated.

My system:

OS: Windows 8.1
MOBO: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Rev 1.0
Ram: 8GB Corsair XMS3 (2x, 4GB) DDR3-1333
CPU Cooler: Be quiet dark rock pro
GPU: XFX 290X
Cooling: 2 silent wings fans, one intake in the front, one outtake on the back.
Power supply: Corsair AX750 Gold
PC Case: Cooler master Silencio 550

Note: I did not clean install Windows when I upgraded the CPU.

Hopefully you have a good paste application on the cooler and a correct install, because the BQ DR Pro is a capable cooler.

Check your fan curves. If they are set too low or incorrectly, the fans won't be doing much good, even with that cooler.

You'll have to look at the voltage you are supplying to the cpu, get it as low as possible yet still maintain stability at 4.4GHz.

Don't assume it's temp crashes under OC. There's several other factors that can need addressing as well in an AMD OC. I suck at amd OC, so you'll need better advice than I know there.
