asus strix 960 weird buzzing noise

Welcome to coil whine :)

It a small phenomenon in graphics cards these days.
When a graphics card is overly stress (usually vynsc off creating over 200fps) the coils inside the card start to vibrate and in so make a high pitch whining noise.

It can happen on any next gen card due to how demanding games are now. Even my MSI GTX 970 gets it at odd points but I don't hear the whine just a noise that sounds like a small fan spinning which does not annoy me one bit, anyways I use my earphones or headphones while gaming so I never hear any of the computer.

It is not a fault, just a random annoyance pc gamers have to live with. PSU's can also have coil whine but can also be the cause of a graphics cards coil whine as the PSU may be a cheap...

Up to you if you want to try an RMA to try your luck at getting a none coil whine prone card.

it doesnt disturb me. I only care if it is a broken card. Psu is seasonic s12ii 620w. No noise at all from psu I think.

Well the card works so leave it be, some cards have it worse then others I'm sure I saw some article on the web somewhere comparing all the current gen cards coil whines.

The only real fix would to vysnc (forces required frames in so stopping whine in most cases, vysnc is said to cause small input lag but stops tearing) or limit your fps to your monitors refresh rate (Still tears but can stop the whining)

Vysnc has stopped the noise most of the time.

Only use adaptive it the frame rate is fluxing from below 60fps to 60fps. Just click the 'ON' button in the vysnc drop down box to force vysnc as always on.

If you are getting whine while on the desktop idle I recommend you RMA it. My MSI GTX 970 has never whined while idle, the fans don't even move anyways too.
