Second monitor low resolution with a GTX 970

I recently brought a Gigabyte GTX 970 and am using both the HDMI port on it and one of the DP ports to connect my two BenQ GL2250 monitors with it.

When the computer exited sleep mode the other day the left monitor was at a very low resolution (1024x768) whilst the other monitor was at 1080p. It also isn't detected by the nvidia control panel as being the correct monitor (it says it is just a "Digital display").

I have tried several different cables and still can't seem to fix the issue. Any help would be really appreciated

This is a software issue, switch the connectivity of the second monitor that is troubled over to the main display and configure the resolution from there. If anything resort to updating drivers.

I tried switching over the connection and the troubled monitor is still displaying in low resolution (althoygh now it has the option for 1176x664)

I also tried a fresh install of the drivber which didn't seem to fix anything
