Hi, this is my current rig :
-Gigabyte MA74GMT-S2
-2x2GB DDR3 RAM
-Athlon II X2 250 @3Ghz
-MSI R7 250 1 GB OC Edition
-Stock 450w PSU

As stated in the title, I'm looking to upgrade from Athlon II 250 to Phenom II X4 955 and also get a new power supply.

But i'm a bit hesitant/doubtful about some things :
-The X4 955 doesnt come with a cooler (got it for about $57) so i'm stuck with my stock 250 cooler, would it be ok or nah?
-I've went to "eXtreme Power Supply Calculator" and it says I need about 350w with the X4 as the CPU, any recommendations ? I have about $40-45 budget for the PSU (yeah not really that much)
-Would the X4 go well with my current rig (gpu/ram/motherboard) ?

Solution
If thats the cooler (bellow) then it looks pretty shitty, would probably get CPU quite hot and probably throthle at any proper job thrown at it

This seems to be X2 stock cooler:

The difference is obvious, heatpipes+copper plate.
You might live with it for some time before you get a decent cooler, tho.

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/enermax-power-supply-enp450ast
33$ 450W

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100w10500kr
33$ 500W

There is certainly few other quite well models available there.

As for coolers...

Your mobo seems to be able to handle that CPU so should be fine. And yes it can actually be a fairly good upgrade, some fresh breath at gaming with newer games even GTA 5 or so.
