i5 or i7?

i am upgrading my CPU and not sure if i should get a i5 or spend the extra money for a i7.i don't need a K edition.Also has to be for a 1150 socket.

Unless this is a work machine or you do video editing most of the time....i5!!!

So, no plan to OC?

For pure gaming, i5 4460/4590/4690 is the better price/performance pick.
For gaming and working horse (video/phote editing, etc.) , i7 4790 is the better choice. (in some cases, going to 2011 platform is needed)
If you need an i7 4790, do not plan to OC, do not need the iGPU and kinda short of cash, Xeon E3-1231V3 is the one for you.
Xeon E3-1231V3 is the cheaper alternative to i7 4790.

For Haswell, the 4590 is priced to beat the others. In gaming its as fast as the 4690 but costs less. Plus other tasks, its just as fast. Go:

The performance difference between locked i5s is quite ignoreable in my opinion.
Get simply the cheapest among i5 4460, i5 4590 and i5 4690.
