Building a Pc in a desk. Mother board stand offs

I am looking to build a wooden desk to house my gaming PC in for my construction studies project for my leaving cert.
Does anyone think that there will be any heat issues?
Would the mobo be ok to sit on top of stand offs that are drilled into the wood or would i need some sort metal sheet on top of the wood to ground the mobo?
Also would the psu be ok to be screwed into the wood.

Screwed to the wood/wood standoffs is fine.
heat may be an issue so plan your venting/heatflow well.

Also forgot to ask, anyone got any suggestions for mounting the gpu because leaving it just sitting on the mobo would probably flex it alot.

Yes it would, You would need to scavenge a metal back-frame from from a case to use in the desk or fab one from a good hard strong wood or composite.

They have PCI extension cables you can use. Make sure to plan your air flow carefully to make sure you don't have a house fire since you are building it on wood.
