I recently created a thready before and got my answer but I rethought some things.
- End result I was told to get a SC GTX 970 -

I want a graphics card that will last at least 2 years from now and run games at least on high.

So should I still get the GTX 970 or get something else instead of it.

Also which GTX 970 should I get? The STRIX 970 looks good but I want other opinions.

Thanks!

Solution
i would choose the MSI over the strix, smaller format, better cooler
970 will not last you 2 years i can tell you that now.
if you want and have the money i would get the 980ti same MSI.
that will last you quite a bit. most likely close to two years
but also twice the price.
the 970is a decent price vs power at least ratio to money. in two years they will have complet diffrent cards out prolly 2 genarations ahead and knowone really knows or can predict what to get to last that long.
but for now the970 power/$ is the best thing to get. two years you can worry about that later ;)

I was advised to get Strix 970 by some members from here and I listened. I am happy with the card, I could run GTA 5 on ultra, well, basically any game right now I am running on Ultra. Although sometimes GrForce experience sometimes recommend lower settings. Sometimes it imrpoves the FPS, sometimes I do not see any difference. I am quiet sure that GTX 970 will last you more than 2 years. You can always spend moar American rubles and buy GTX 980?

Unless you are completely anal about your FPS, you probably will not see a lot of difference for 2+ years.

My 0.02 cents.

Would you recommend the MSI R9 390 over the 970? I've watched a few videos about it and they all seem biased on the R9. Thanks!

Everyone is saying that the R9 will run better with the newer games coming in since it will be DX 12. I just want to make sure I'm getting a decent enough bang for my buck.

At the same time I will be playing on 1080p so 970 does really shine there.

http://www.game-debate.com/

my reasons, ^^ you can look through yourself but as more and more crappy console ports come out, grafics must pick up for the ports "lost in translation" that the coders do to try to get then all out simultaneously. across All platforms. just take a look at the new batman or unity games they look amazingly detailed but they are already pushing limits of todays modern day GFX cards and you want to say that two years from now the 970 will still play on high? ill let you figure that out, maby SLI or non SLI and on medium. 950 is first of new direct x12 full support and then comes a whole new wave of games and cards. ..2016 not even 2017..

i would go with the evga, it has the highest boost clock, stock. but it is ref design cooler so overclocking will not be able to get to much more out of it as they save the better cores for the SSC versions.

if you plan on overclocking MSI for 319 will kill it, it has heat pipes and and is clocked higher than the strix from stock plus it emits less noise. and cleans itself every time you turn you pc on by spinning the fans backwards 30sec to get the dust out keeps clean and cool. you will also be able to over volt it with the MSI software and overclock more when you need to it will easily reach the speeds of evga and evga SSC or beyond. with proper case cooling.

The GPU I have now is the EVGA gtx 760 and it fried itself. It crashes and gives me black screens so kinda scared about buying EVGA again. Not sure. MSI does look promising.
