Solution
I am confident that the chosen GTX 750 Ti model should fit and run in that system. However the specs are so poor the GTX 750 Ti won't be able to truly show up in most games.

I have the same PC and that card WILL NOT fit into it. I mistakenly purchased an EVGA gtx750 ti SC, because I was advised by people in this very forum that it would fit. I think people were only confirming whether the PSU would run it. The card will not fit because the only pci slot that it COULD fit in is at the very top near the heatsink and fan bay. The card faces up and there would need to be an additional pci slot above it for it to fit. I have to pay a restocking fee, now, to return my card, and get what has consensusly been confirmed as the best card that will fit without upgrading the PSU or mobo... the HD7750

You sure of that? Apparently there are many different versions of the Dell Optiplex 760, so the one that you have might not be the one of his. Because, his one is the mini-tower, but you might have one even smaller than that. So perhaps you have that one and there is where the confusion starts?

I definitely have the largest form factor, the MT (Mini-Tower) The only one with a horizontal optical drive. I've found some possible video cards upgrades that might fit. Hopefully someone can confirm these. Most of the suggested cards in dell/toms forums are out of stock (hd7750)... how about these:

Take a look at either the GT 740 or the R7 250 (DDR3)

Video Card: Zotac GeForce GT 740 2GB Video Card ($70.49 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $70.49
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Video Card: XFX Radeon R7 250 2GB Core Edition Video Card ($67.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $67.99

However , if that GTX 750 Ti fits into your system then it is your best option for sure. The HD 7750 is an outdated one, so the GT 740/R7 250 would be suggested over that as they are a lot cheaper aswell.

Good suggestions, but I would very much prefer a 128 bit card with gddr5, even if it's just 1mb... am i being fastidious?

Hi the msi gtx 750 ti low profile fits in the optiplex 760 desktop with the metal bracket swapped to the low profile bracket.
As the mini tower says it supports full height pcie the metal bracket would not need to be swapped allowing all 3 ports to be Used (hdmi, vga, div). .
I know this for sure as this video: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WR83S2gYutM
proves it.
(Credits for the above info from this video)
Also dual slot cards won't fit in the optiplex 760 mini tower.
Hope this helps
