Can i put a gtx 970 acx 2.0 FTW+ in my alienware x51

Was wondering if a gtx 970 acx 2.0 FTW+ would work in my alienware x51 R2.
I want to know if it would just plug in and go or if i would have to make some modifications.
Will I need to upgrade the power supply?
Currently Have:
GPU: Geforce GTX 745
CPU: Intel(R)Core(TM)i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHZ
Memory: 8.00 GB RAM
OS: Windows 8.1

The psu which comes with the case is often not quality psus and i think u require a minimum of 500watt psu.
