G'day guys... Recently I've been wanting to get a better PC so I can run the latest games and I was wondering if I could just put a new GPU in my old PC and be able to run games like Blops 3, Battlefront and Fallout 4 on at least minimal settings with a decent frame rate at 1080p. Also how much would a Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 bottleneck the performance of something like a GTX 960?

My old PC currently has an Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93GHz and 6.00GB DDR2 ram and I was looking at getting a 4GB Gigabyte 960.

Please tell me if this a stupid idea.
and obviously I'd upgrade my CPU, ram, mobo, .etc overtime as I needed.

Thanks-

The question has more to do with what you find acceptable performance. Your 960 can handle more than low settings and still get over 60 FPS. Your CPU cannot say the same. There may be some games it can handle, but AAA titles are starting to require at least 4 threads, which your CPU does not have.

It is time to upgrade your CPU.
