Will the ASUS VG248WE monitor improve my gaming?

Hey folks,

Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking if a monitor will improve the settings of my PC gaming. What I'm asking is if the aforementioned monitor, ASUS VG248QE, will help improve the display quality of PC gaming?

Will it achieve the silky smooth gaming that you see in many Youtube clips (I think you know what I'm talking about)?

It has some good specs such as 144hz and a 1 ms response time. The only downsides, which also brings the price down, is the fact that it doesn't seem to have the G-Sync function, 3D-vision function, and IPS panel etc. Will this affect the outcome considerably? Am I better off getting the much more expensive monitors instead?

Can't really decide since I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison of different monitors, so I would appreciate any kind of help from you guys!

Though anything is better than my crappy Samsung 21.5 inch 1440x780 (I think) monitor that's roughly 7-10 years old :)

Thanks,

Karl

Your defiantly going to need 2 cards or 1 monster if you plan on that, for streaming SLI/CF are almost required, especially at the refresh rate. So no it will not improve your gaming, it will make it worse as its higher resolution, the only way it will make it better is if you have the GPU's to back it up.

Is the GTX 970 good enough as a single card or would I need to run SLI on that as well to get that silky smooth performance?

Thanks!

You would have to run sli to get silky smooth performance, 1 would be fine if you were not gaming or photoshop/video editing. 1 is good for just about only watching movies in that resolution. As for games yoy would have to crank down the resolution and set a fps cap at 60 for smooth performance, with 2 you can run games well, set your fps to 120 mhz same with the monitor, use light boost to 144. V sync on with max pre rendered frames at 1. With 1 card no way your playing 144mhz 1080p or above smoothly.

You want at least 3gb vram aswell on each card.

And ips monitors are mainly utilized and needed for work stations. Photoshop, 3d model renderings, this is where a ips monitor is efficent.
