When my FX 8350 hits about 69 degrees my games start to lag. I get stupid FPS drops and I'm not sure what the issue is...

Here are the rest of my specs:

CPU
AMD FX-8350
Vishera 32nm Technology

RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 802MHz (11-11-11-28)

Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M5A99X EVO R2.0 (Socket 942)

Graphics
Acer H236HL (1920x1080@60Hz)
Acer H236HL (1920x1080@60Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (ASUStek Computer Inc)

Solution
Use AMD OverDrive to determine the *Thermal Margin* of your CPU, and to monitor for throttling.

The stock AMD copper-heatpipe cooler is fine for running stock speeds. You should check your motherboard volt delivery and VCore. Many AM3+ motherboards with voltage left on *Auto* will over-volt your CPU and drive up your temps.

And --LOL-- AMD thermal paste is fine.

AS RV said its thermal throttling, you can disable it by going into the bios and advanced cpu features. what it does is when the CPU gets to a certain temp it will automatically throttle it, dropping game performance instantly in order to try and reduce the CPU temp.

Ok thanks for your help, I'll go disable it and see what happens. Also, I was just playing BF4 to test it out and my CPU hit 78 degrees... surely this isnt normal? Would a new cooler solve this problem? if so what do you recommend?
