Hello everyone,
I expierenced a problem with my PC a few weeks ago and I still have it, its annoying me now..
So, I have 16GB of RAM, I'm using 8GB because that takes less time to install than 16GB.
So now I can work perfectly with 8GB of RAM, when I put the system off in Windows (NOT RESTART) and after I push the button, I recieve a black screen. Sometimes the GPU fans are just giving little shocks for about some milimeters, sometimes they are working normally. So what I need to do is turn the system of, erase 4GB so I have 4GB installed, boot up with 4GB and the PC works again with 4GB. If I want to go to 8GB or 16GB, I need to put the system off again and install the RAM, and then the system will boot up with 8GB or 16GB. So actually the system is giving me a black screen when I turn the system off.. Its kinda frustrating always when I turn off my PC at the evening and put it back on in the morning, noon its not working and I need to remove the RAM and install it again... I'm working on 1333 MHz at the moment, my RAM itselfs are 1600MHz but the BIOS sets them on 1333MHz default. I tried to put it on 1600MHz but I still got the same problem then and then is giving me a screen to enter BIOS or to use defaults and enter Windows.. I don't see any damage on the RAM slots or motherboard though... I really don't know what the problem is, why my PC is giving a black screen when I turn it off normally and then put it on..

If you can download memtest86 and give it a go to check if your ram is okay, Reseat your ram and it should work fine. So from what your saying is you have a set of dual channel, and another random 4gb stick? Or 2 4gb sticks? And did the other come dual channel or did you just buy seperate ram

Okay, I'm working with 4x 4GB but now with 8GB, and yes I'm working in dual channel now, 2x 4GB RAM. The 4 RAM's are all the same, of corsair. I'll do the memtest. By the way in the past the system worked perfect with no issues for 2-3 weeks.. Can you give me a link of the .iso file?

Sure can here memtest86 just scroll down and download the free usb or dvd one, whichever you perfer, I like the USB, quick and easy. then test your ram and let me know what happens.

Also change in your bios to have you ram run in flex mode, make sure the dual channel 4g are in the correct slot and havent come loose or anything. also you can do a CMOS reset, this will revert all bios settings and bring it back to how it was so whatever changed will be reverted.
Unplug your PSU from the wall
take out the cmos battery
Hold the power button for 15 seconds solid
put back in the battery
plug in psu and boot up your pc

Okay, well there is memtest+ and normal memtest, which do you recommend? And the '''flex mode'' where can I indicate that? I can't find it in the BIOS. I already did a CMOS reset.

memtest+ if it cost money then just get memtest. Flex mode should enable you to run the 2x4gb sticks you have currently working in dual channel while running the other 2 stand alone, it should automatically make it so thats not an issue. I am truly guessing that a ram stick must have gone bad or a ram slot preventing the dual configuration or quad if supported and preventing the stick from working properly.

just a random question, you do have the sticks configured correctly? according to the MOBO on it will have a small white thing labbeling the DIIMS which are the slots, which do you have configured? is your mobo DIMM 2 DIMM 1 DIMM 3 DIMM 4 or whatever it may be if you could post that and the location of your ram sticks would be great.
