USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming (ARMA, Fallout, CSGO) - Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/After Effects

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Sapphire 7850 2GB OC, Corsair 600W Builder

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: i5 3570k (not overclocked), AsRock Z77 Exreme 4, Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, Zalman Z11 Case

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe | SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: (1920x1080 60hz) + (1920x1080 144hz)

I was looking at a few cards that are on sale:
£225: 970 4GB http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00NZT6D68/
£202: 290X 4GB http://www.amazon.fr/Sapphire-290X-Carte-graphique-Express/dp/B00I7N9E9A

I am not really sure if my power supply can run these cards on my system or if an upgrade is worth it. Also is crossfire with my 7850 a viable option? Any advice is appreciated

I would just upgrade, if power consumption is a concern get the 970, if you plan on gaming at 1440p I would get the 290X, but since you're just at 1080p 970 will be fine. GTX 970 TDP is only 15W more than your 7850, though to be honest you can get away with a 290X/390X on a 600W PSU IF it's good quality, which I would not say the one you have is the best in its class. But you will be ok with a 970, especially since you're not overclocking. With 2 290Xs and a 4770K I had a max draw of 758W; and that's with two cards; with one card I was hitting ~450W. If you're going to CF or SLI get a better PSU with more wattage.
