Hello Tom's Hardware community,

This is my first ever question thread so i apologise if i have messed up in any way.

So, recently I started encountering sudden shutdowns when playing graphics intensive games and after a lot of research on the internet I think its my bad PSU (am I correct?). So ive decided to buy a new PSU and here are the ones I have in mind-

Circle 500W PSU that my local dealer is offering for 2500 indian rupees

or

cooler master thunder 500W for 3600 indian rupees online

I have an fx4100 cpu and a sapphire amd radeon r7 265..

which is best and more reliable?? I am open to new suggestions too..

I would rather get this one,
http://www.flipkart.com/antec-vp-500-watts-psu/p/itmdydvepgrtu9a3?pid=PSUDYDVE2HSUXAUW&ref=L%3A-4184126175298500683&srno=p_38&query=psu&otracker=from-search
i don't know what your max budget is so other ones could be looked at as well if you can spend more.
If you want to spend less and are not going to overclock would this also do fine,

So is antec a better brand than cooler master for psus ? I don't know much about antec...my budget is at max what the antec one costs...3.6kk....also i require a 500w psu with a 6 pin connector for my r7 265

What about the cooler master one that i have mentioned ?? Is cooler master not good for psus ? ..
I ask this because i found a negative review for the antec version and not for the cooler master one so now i am confused between these two

the experts have taken apart and tested many psu models and ranked them based on quality and performance. a company can have some good units and some bad ones. it depends on a lot of factors. here is a ranking of many different models available that puts them into tiers for quality. idealy you only want something from the top 2-3 tiers and want to avoid the bottom tiers as they are mainly junk.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

the antec is a tier 3 unit while the ones you are looking at are lower on the list so not as desirable. for your budget, the antec is probably the best option for you. not every make and model is on the list but as you can see some companies have top tier stuff and other models at the bottom of the list. so simply saying "cooler master makes good psu's" is not exactly correct. they don't actually make any psu's but rather buy them from various oem's. the good oem's they buy from make solid units. the crap oem's they buy from make lousy units.

Noted. Thanx, I think there is no doubt now that i should buy the antec PSU. I'll order right away. Also could a bad psu be the reason for a failing hard disk? because i have two hard disks and the older one sometimes just doesnt work.. rare , but happens. However it starts working again once i disconnect and reconnect its power supply. Will this be solved by a new PSU too ?

Thank you tom's hardware community. Wasn't expecting replies so fast.

Hello again!... Ive instead decided to go with this one !

http://www.amazon.in/Antec-VP550P-550-Watts-PSU/dp/B00565RGQA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1448795684&sr=8-4&keywords=psu

It is antec...and 50 watts more...i just wanna confirm if it is as good as the one u suggested...also it will have the 6 pin connector for my graphic card (amd R7 265) right?

THat's a good choice, probably the best of the ones here, you can buy that one and yes it has the connector for your gpu,it has even two of those so if you want to get a more powerfull gpu could you even go that route.

About the hdd, don't know.Try with the new psu and see what happens,it can also be the age of the hdd,but you'll find out when the new psu is in your pc.
