Realistically, at that price, there is no such thing as a gaming PC. Even with just the core tower parts. You'd be looking at something that can't even match console performance.
I'm not saying this to be insulting, as I know many get bitten by the anxiety bug, esp on the holidays. I'm just saying your best bet is waiting until you can afford a bit more.
You'll probably have it for a while, and you don't want to be stuck with something you hate.
