Adding additional RAM

I am going to be upgrading my motherboard to match an upgraded CPU I am getting, and the new motherboard comes with 4 slots for memory instead of the original 2 in my current motherboard. Currently I have 2 x 4 Gb sticks running DDR3 1600.

My question is, would I be able to add two more sticks that are different than the original 2 I currently have? Like would I be able to put in two more 4gb sticks at an 1866 frequency without any compatibility issues?

Also would it be worth just upgrading to DDR4 entirely since I'm making upgrades anyways?

Thanks!

Just realized it as I was speaking ;p But would I still be able to run two different sets of sticks running at different frequencies? Both DDR3 in my case
