So I am in need of a new graphics card to keep up with new games, and I need some advice on whether or not ill need to upgrade other components to support to new card.

Current Setup:
i5 3570k
GTX 670
ASRock z77 extreme4
vengence 8gb ram
corsair 600 watt power supply
no water cooling...

I don't really do any heavy overclocking...Just for fun sometimes. The main game I will be playing when upgraded will be Fallout 4 and would like to be able to max the settings out. I only have a 1080p monitor at the moment but may be upgrading this as well.

so the question I have for you all is what card is the most beneficial for my current setup (980??, or 980ti?? or something else??)

And what else might I need to upgrade in order to run said card efficiently?

Thanks for any help!! This will be my first upgrade since getting into PC gaming world so apologies if there is an obvious answer.

Solution

all you need is a gtx 970 and a good 500w or better power supply

the CX series from corsair are well known to die early as they have pretty low end components

I suggest a xfx supernova GS 550w power supply

and a gtx 970

power supply is a cx600m
I dont want to do any sli so i would rather spend the money on one higher end card. so my budget would be between 500-650 for the card. and thats hoping ill be ok with my current motherboard, cpu, and power supply.

If you are not going to do anything more than 1080p then get either an r9 390 or a gtx 970 it will handle 1080p with no problems a 980ti will become uncessacary as i is a card for gaming at either 4k or 1440p @ 144hz.

You can max out fallout 4 with an r9 390 or gtx 970 which are 300$ cards and get avg 72 fps (1080p)

The best bang for buck right now is a Sapphire Nitro R9 390

You could spend 500-600 $, but it's going to get you only a small increase in performance for a massive increase in price.
