So, my moms old pc has officially died. Fried cpu and it's old af, so not worth replacing it. Removed the hdd and put it in my pc, but most of the pictures and stuff like that is missing. Any ideas what to do?
Use the Hard Drive as your main (Boot from that drive not yours). Once you have booted from it you can stick a thumb drive in and transfer the pictures. Or you can have your main Drive as a secondary and put the pictures onto your hard drive.

Tried it. BSOD. Guessing that the hardware isn't compatible or smth.
Did you try what scout suggested? If you can use your HDD to boot and you have access to the other drive when it is plugged in (usually named D: drive) then you should be able to use recuva to recover some picture files. I had a similar situation. I managed to get the files but it wasnt too easy. Recuva just listed so many files and I had to sift through them all, I am sure there might be a way to filter it but I never figured it out.
