Which for my new laptop: SSD+HDD, SSHD, or what?

I'm planning to buy the ASUS ROG GL551JW-WH71(WX) from Newegg before Black Friday sales are up. It comes with a 1TB 5400 rpm HDD and (as I understand) no SSD. I would like to upgrade it to include some form of SSD.

The problem is, there doesn't seem to be a slot for an SSD, unless I remove the disk drive (which I like but could remove after I install some games). In order to get the boost in performance, should I get a dedicated SSD (128GB or so) for startup in addition to the hard drive, or would replacing the HDD with an SSHD still have the same speed boosting effect? (And if I were to get an SSHD, which one would you all recommend?)

Finally, does it really make much difference if the HDD is 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm? I can upgrade if necessary, but I don't know what to do with the hard drive it will come with.

The samsung evo 500gb is currently only $150 at Newegg.

Baring a straight up SSD you could get an SSHD.
-The seagate sshd 1tb is $70 in oem form and $90 retail. Keep in mind that you have no control over what gets stored in the 8gb SSD portion of the drive, its strictly used to cache the drive.
- The WD Black2 features a 120gb ssd plus a 1tb drive for $200. The ssd will be a separate drive than the 1tb and you have full control over both just as if you had two drives installed.
