i'm getting the following error for MSI gaming app...

windows cannot find c:\program files (x86)\msi\msi gaming app\sgamingapp.exe

since i don't really know what it means i thought maybe it was a bad install but i get the same message when i try to uninstall, add/remove programs is no help either

I'm new to pc stuff and this is on my first build, so basically ELI5

delete the shortcut on desktop, go to the program in program files, inside will be the exe file that starts it, right click on it and send to desktop (shortcut). should work then
Unless it has been removed, then you need to reinstall it

(sorry for the delayed reply)

That didnt work either, and i can't uninstall as i get the same error running uninstall.exe or using add/remove programs

Download the latest version of the MSI Gaming App here ( http://gaming.msi.com/article/msi-gaming-app-article ).

Reinstall over the top of what is already there. Then, if you want it gone, uninstall via control panel.

You could also use an old trick. Create a dummy file named "c:\program files (x86)\msi\msi gaming app\sgamingapp.exe" with Notepad or Wordpad, then run the uninstall via Control Panel. May or may not work depending upon whether or not checksums are used to verify the integrity of the files during removal.

reinstalled over the top and still doesn't work, when i go to remove it it says "an error occured while trying to uninstall...it may have already been uninstalled"

i'm not the most computer literate so i'm not entirely sure how to do that last bit in notepad

1. Open either Notepad or Wordpad
2. Save the empty file as "sgamingapp.exe" in the appropriate directory.

In Unix/Linux you'd simply do a "touch <filename>" in a console window.

..."An error occured while trying to uninstall...it may have already been uninstalled"...
This would indicate that the registry entries for this app have been removed from the "uninstall" area of the registry by the uninstall process (should have also removed the item from the list of apps). Reinstalling should fix that. When you reinstalled, did you verify that the same target directory was chosen?
