im having a really annoying issue here. my computers peripheral sata cord was broken and since then no cord seems to power up my drives. they are fine as i tested them earlier today in my friends computer but when i plug them in mine they dont power up, all my lights and fans work but no drives power or are recognized by the motherboard? can anyone help why? is there something wrong with my psu? is it simply not sending power out the peripheral plug? or is the cord that was replaced the problem?

sorry i wasnt very specific (i am most certainly a beginner when it comes to computers this is my first)

my hard drives work in my friends computer: one ssd and on hdd
but i could not test the cords as his arent modular so you cant unplug his cords. i have 2 cords both brand new and neither works :/ the cords have the 3.3v connection as well: would that be the issue? i know that if it was plugged into a molex the 3.3v wouldnt carry over but its plugged directly into the power source so i thought maybe its not supplying 5v only 3.3v and i was hoping i may be able to just remove the 3.3v wire and then the cable would work?
but at the same time i thought it should work regardless of the added 3.3v wire as people claim that it still works :s

I suggest you try your entire PC with the PSU of your friends PC (if he's ok with it). If the problem is within your PSU, other cables won't fix the problem. If it turns out to be your PSU, your only option would be getting a new PSU in you computer.

mm, that would be difficult i might try a different ccable and if that doesnt work ill test my mobo and everything with his psu and see what happens
