I want to build a gtx 980ti pc keeping three hardrives from my last pc. would anyone name everything else id need after i get the 980ti. basically im asking for a list of parts i need to run the 980ti and three hard drives
There's room in the budget for either a good cooler or a good case before hitting $1200. If you need a new case and you want to overclock with a new cooler, then a few more tweaks will need to be made.
One other thing. Do you want an SSD? It's a convenient thing to have for a boot drive and some other things. A decent 240GB model can be had for around $60.

this is all great i just need an inexpensive case and will my three current hard drives be compatible with this without complications
If your hard drives are old PATA (IDE) models, then no (well, yes if you get a PCI or PCIe adapter). Assuming they are instead SATA, then yes, they will be compatible. What are your thoughts on the case I've linked?
If you don't want to overclock might as well go for a Xeon and H97 setup and use the stock cooler. I included a decent case and an SSD and you still have $50 to spare.
That'd be more relevant if the build budget didn't allow for both. The only reason I didn't include one in my build was because he hasn't answered my question about wanting one or not.

Wow that top suggestion is exactly what I want, but with case and ssd . Don't mean to hijack the thread ,not too savvy with forums.just the knowledge to say yep compatible, is so hard to grasp for a noob like myself.
