New PC keeps restarting randomly

So recently I built a new PC featuring a FX 8320 (w/ hyper 212 cooler) gigabyte 970a UD3P mobo, r9 270x gpu, WD black hdd and Evga 500w psu. So after building this rig, I tried to install windows 8.1 which didn't work out very well. Finally, I managed to get it working but for some reason, it randomly restarts. There doesn't seem to be any consistency between the restarts. I also noticed that none of my components are under any kind of load when it happens. I have installed the latest drivers which I thought would fix this but it still happens.

Have you looked at the Windows logs as to why it is restarting?

I clicked on it and it shows, a few critical errors, a lot of errors and a lot of warnings mostly to do with device setup manager and critical kernal power. Don't really understand what any of it means though :p

I would try and find out if it didn't keep rebooting before it even finished loading windows........

Well here is the thing. I was using PC earlier and it managed to run for 20mins sometimes with out restarting. Now, I cant even get a full boot of windows before it crashes/restarts.

Well im using an evo 212 and it was keeping the cpu pretty cool. The ram is also working. I just checked to see whether it perhaps was the evga psu and I put in my cx 430. As it turns out the evga 500w psu was working fine because the pc still kept restarting with corsair cx 430. I also swapped out the gpu and still the same thing. So either, its the mobo or the cpu.

Try pulling mobo battery out, and try to Reinstall CPU... I mean new Thermal paste and removing cooler + installing again.. if u did all that and still.. then it's the Mobo or cpu like u said Good luck :)

So just finished rebuilding the entire PC and of course it still has the same problem. Seeing as I used my FX 8320 before, I assume it is the motherboard which was brand new. Gonna return it and see if a new board is the answer.

So reading reviews on Newegg revealed that the Gigabyte ga 970A-UD3P is a bit hit and miss. Some people get a good board, some are not so lucky. If I had seen this before I bought mine I would have probably have chosen differently. I just hope the replacement works.

Update-
So got my replacement board and still the same issue. It turns out the ram is to blame. This system will not run stably at 1600mhz. I must down-clock the ram to 1333mhz for it to work. This exact same thing happened with my old gigabyte 78lmt but I never figured out what I needed to change to run the 1600mhz run well.
