The extreme4 mobo allows for "DDR3 2800+(OC)/2400(OC)/2133(OC)/1866(OC)/1600/1333/1066" memory. This is my first time OCing.

When I placed the new set of G.SKILL Sniper Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 2400 the Bios saw there were 4 sticks at 32gb. But I can't seem to get the XMP to work on a preset thats 1.3 for the ram.

When i attempted to OC on my own I upped the voltage to 1.65 which is what it is supposed to be set at and I still couldnt seem to get the OC to 2400. The z77 doesnt see higher than 2100 i believe. So in that case how could i get to 2800+?

Thanks, i'm definitely confused.

O.K. XMP isn't an over clock. Have the same G.skill kit. Ya hafta set the BIOS to XMP. Then ya hafta set the drop down menu in advanced for memory or sumptin to 2400. Ya don't hafta mess with the voltage. The processor OC for the most part doesn't have much to do with a memory XMP profile. 2800 speed is an odd ball and don't use it. Use CPUID to check if the memory, DDR remember, took the settings. Rinse and repeat til ya get it. After the first time ya will get it.
Have fun:).

the xmp is set to Auto. I'll look into it.

I was taking tips from this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kNWMfAaVj0&index=2&list=PLH_iGDuebkZ4LpQvws_j4DetdufyJKVP5

Yeah I'm super inexperienced. I need to get my hands wet on this one it looks like. I have had the Mobo for 6 months. Its fairly old, 2 years old. So I'd think they would have pretty up to day bios since i bought it from newegg this summer.

Go to the mobos site and compare if you have the latest BIOS. Those things can change quite often. Have flashed BIOS here 4 times with the Asus X99 board in the last 6 mos. and it fixed problems each time. Each manuf. is different though.

There is no selection that i can find that enables or disables. its either set to Auto or to a Profile. In this case its a 1.3 Profile. Which the Intel XMP 1.3 support is a feature of this Mobo.

When i select either the Auto or the Profile I can go no higher than 2133.

Under the Mobo specs on newegg it says the 2400 is supported but then next to 2400 is a (OC) which I am assuming that the mobo doesnt directly have settings for it but you can OC/manually set that ram type up? I'll check CPUID + CPUZ
