Hi,
For the last two days I have been building myself a pc. I am by no means an expert, but this is the fourth build I have worked on, so I do have some experience. However, I encountered a problem today that I cannot figure out for the life of me. My system refuses to turn on. Now, I know there are hundreds of different problems that could contribute to this, so I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction as far as diagnosing the problem. Here is some information that might help: 1) the power button from the front of the case is in the correct spot. 2)All connections from power supply to motherboard are securely plunged in. 3)Switch on the back of the power supply is on. 4) Outlet is working. 5)When I plug the mouse in the leds come on. I also tried to jump it using a screwdriver which didn't work. I'm basically out of ideas, so if any of you have advice it would be greatly appreciated!

Here is what I'm running (or trying to)
Processor: i5-4609k
Mobo: ASRock z97 Extreme3
Case: NZXT Classic Series Source 210 Mid Tower ATX
Power supply: Corsair CX Series CX750M (750W)

Thanks,
Chase

Have you gone through a trouble shoot list - e.g. won't post/boot on this site http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems?

Hello Bluenova65 I see you are also have some issues with the Asrock Extreme3 motherboard. I myself have the exact same specs as you and I am encountering the same issue as you. I wanna ask if you hear any beeps on start up if you don't have a speaker to tell you any beeps then does your computer turn on then turn off after a couple of seconds then turn itself back on. Does the process repeat over and over. I also want to ask what kind of ram you have. If you can try out your ram in another computer see if it works if it does work on another computer then you may have bad ram slots. This is something to do with ram or the ram slot on the motherboard. I hope to hear your reply.

Hey K-Hype,
Turns out, I had an unnecessary motherboard standoff underneath my board causing it to short out. Once I fixed that, everything worked perfectly. However, when I had the problem, I did not have a speaker attached. The computer would not turn on at all, never mind looping. Anyways I hope you are able to fix your problem, check the link CrazyDingo posted, its really helpful!

Turns out for me I got a defective motherboard I went back to Microcenter and swap out for a Gigabyte Z97MX Gaming 5 motherboard and it has been running great. This isn't the first time I had problems with Asrock but I didn't expect a dead board and its new in box not even a refurbished model. I never had problems with Gigabyte and in the future I will stick with them most likely. Thanks and have you overclocked your CPU?
