I plan on upgrading my PC with a new gpu. The gpu (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127800)says direct x 12. My PC says it has Direct X 11.2. Will this cause an issue or is the gpu solely responsible for running DIrect X?

dx 12 is already out. only windows 10 supports it though so you will need windows 10 and a gpu that supports it to use dx 12

Was referring to games actully being built to use it. Pardon the vagueness there.

that's out there too. ark survival implemented it i believe.

It's fine, as the others have said. Basically a graphics card will support a number of different APIs ("languages" for communication between game, driver, and the actual GPU), and that one just advertises support for the newest version of the DirectX API - in addition to support for all the older APIs on the market.
