Hiya guys, I am going to be buying a power supply from Newegg, the UK version is much more expensive with the shipping that what it would be if I was to use the USA version with the 3 day shipping trial, so I am thinking about buying the one from the USA, my question being will I have to change the plug in order to plug it into the socket in the wall? Or will they change it before they send it?.

I also will be buying the 980ti Windforce edition from the USA Newegg however, I do not think that will be an issue.

UK version:

The power supply itself is fine with any voltage. You either need a plug converter or a cord with a UK spec plug on the wall end. Either will work.

No sir that PSU will work 100% fine.
If you look at the specs, the input voltage is from 115v-240v, so that covers America's 120v and anywhere else that uses 240v.

No need to change the plug or anything, it automatically switches for the 240v and 120v.
A psu commonly the older ones come with a red switch on the back to change voltages from 115 to 240, newer ones it's built in. Like the one you linked

I'm pretty sure taxes and import fees are going to kill any sort of deal you might get by buying from the US site. But as to your question power supplies will work anywhere. Older ( and newer models of the lowest quality ) power supplies had a switch on the back that you had to change yourself depending on if you live in a 120VAC or 220VAC area. Any new, quality power supply will have an internal switch that is automatic. You would obviously need a plug adapter or UK spec power cord so it fits your socket.

I thought the USA version doesn't ship foreign? I don't think you can do what you want to do.

If they do ship it, it's the USA version. You think they are going to open the box and put a UK cord in there because someone saw it's going to a UK address? You buy USA, you get USA plugs. You'll need the adapter to make it work.

Seems like it. The US end looks right anyway. My single trip to the UK in 1994 doesn't make me an expert on the other end though :p

Newegg has international versions now. I think ordering from the US site in an attempt to save money doesn't work though. Import fees and taxes kill the savings.

Right. I know they have sites for other countries. From reading the OP it sounds like he's trying to save a few £ and order from the USA site and have them ship it to UK. Which doesn't work to my knowledge. Newegg USA only ships to USA, not UK. It would work if he's shipping it to cousin Bob's place and then having Bob send it across the pond. But as you said Anort the shipping and fees would probably make that a bad idea. So I'm not sure what the OP is trying to accomplish.

No point of me getting the USA version anymore, the taxes killed it :/, only reason I was considering it was because the £50 shipping cost in the UK is actually quite a lot. The USA newegg give you a free trial for shipping.

When I lived across the pond, every year my dad would come to the States for refresher classes at Lockheed. With a pocket full of everyone else's cash and 1 small bag. The return flight was no cash and 3-4 large suitcases. Lol. But, everyone did that back then, it was the only way to avoid those lovely import dues amd/or shipping fees.
